Donation of Books By Family of Late Prof. Bello-Imam

The family of late Professor Inusa Bright Bello-Imam has donated copies of books authored by the late Professor to the University.

The family, led by the eldest daughter of the late Professor, Mrs. Portia Ikhide who was accompanied by her husband and other family members of Prof. Bello-Imam, donated the books on Monday, 29th August 2016 at the Vice-Chancellor’ Conference Room.

Addressing the Ambrose Alli University Management team led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.A. Onimawo, Mrs. Ikhide said, they decided to donate copies of the books to the University because they understand the drive and passion of their late father for education, and this was one way to honour their father even after his demise. She added that Prof Bello-Imam had a brief stay as a Professor in the Department of Political Science, Edo State University, Ekpoma now Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma between January, 1996 and December, 1997. She said that such a man, who gave so much to academics and to humanity at large, deserves the honour of keeping his intellectual legacy alive by making his books available to humanity. She added, that they believed that, if their late father was to will his books out, he would have willed a huge number of his books to the University, therefore, they were not acting out of place.

On receiving the books, the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. I.A. Onimawo welcomed the entourage and thanked them for the very kind gesture of donating their father’s books to the University. He said the gesture was a very wonderful, laudable and an outstanding one and in a way they have immortalized their father in the University. He commiserated with the family on the demise of their father and promised that the University would put the books to judicious use and see to their protection because the end users would always appreciate the knowledge embedded in them.

The high point was the formal presentation of the books to the Vice-Chancellor and handing over to the University Librarian. The books were: Local Government Finance in Nigeria (30 copies); The War Against Corruption in Nigeria (51 copies); The Local Government System in Nigeria (100 copies); President Jonathan’s Transformation Agenda: An Assessment (30 copies); Yar Dua’s 7 Point Agenda (40 copies); Democratic Governance and Development Management in Nigeria’s Fourth Republic 1999 – 2003 (17 copies); Spring Board Journal (38 copies); Al-Hikmal Journal of the Humanities (8 copies); 50 years of the Nigerian projects, challenges and prospects (17 copies); National security and Development in Contemporary Nigeria Vol.1 & 2 (35 copies) and Ethnographic Survey of south Ibie Clan (8 copies).
