AAU Action Plan Towards the Ongoing Contributions of Nigerian Universities to National Response to the COVID-19 Scourge

As the world awaits the knowledge based system to bring about vaccines and drugs to save humanity from the COVID-19 pandemic and possible future occurrences, there has been a spike in efforts by countries to adopt and promote homegrown innovations and technologies to minimise human suffering from the disease.

Here in Nigeria, the National Universities Commission (NUC) is collating homegrown knowledge output to provide an advisory on how these can be promoted to chart a pathway for effective knowledge based national response.

In Ambrose Alli University, a research team led by Prof. O. A. Ighodalo, HOD, Mechanical Engineering has reached an advanced stage in the Development of a solar powered automated hand sanitizer with infra-red temperature detector, which we hope will represent our landmark contribution to the national response.

By this memo, members of Senate and indeed the entire University is hereby notified of the present efforts of the Directorate of Research Publication and Development in collaboration with the Faculty of Engineering and Technology to further make our University visible in the area of Technology and Innovation in this Country and beyond.

Many thanks.
