Each Faculty is governed by a Faculty Board, which broadly controls the academic programme of the Faculty subject to Senate approval. In order that Senate may not be over-burdened by details, its functions are delegated to the Faculty Board whose Chairman is the Dean. The Dean is elected or appointed for a specific period (at present two years) from among the Professors in the particular Faculty. Part of the functions of the Dean is to present students in his Faculty for matriculation and to convocation for the conferment of Degrees, Diploma and Certificates on persons who have qualified for such awards after University examinations held in the various Departments within the Faculty
