The library remains the information heartbeat of every tertiary institution. It is therefore imperative that all stakeholders in form of students, staff as well as visitors familiarise themselves with the operations of library and utilise them to advance knowledge or responsibilities in the educational ecosystem. The Ambrose Alli University Library is quite aware of these responsibilities and its adequately positioned to ensure that efficient and effective service delivery is its watchword through adequate acquisition of relevant and up to date information resources and constant operations of seasoned librarians that periodically participate in capacity building activities, internally and externally.
The Ambrose Alli University Library with 2,500 seating capacity and as part of its policy to raise all round educated users has in its stocks over 100,000 textbooks, 50,000 journals, abundant reference materials, magazines, theses/dissertations, government publications and special collections. The Library subscribes to four closed access databases which include Research4life, Ebscohost, Proquest and Law Pavilion as well as over 100 open access databases which expose our users to abundant level of information, necessary to make their endeavours in AAU not only worthwhile but also unforgettable. Our materials are carefully selected having been guided by robust collection development policy to cover all disciplines offered by the Institution as well as other areas of learning that could make scholar a complete being, ready to contribute meaningfully to national as well as international development. Apart, we also focus on key objective to make every user a true ambassador of AAU in future based on ample use of information services available at their disposal as delivered by our Library.
Such services include charging and discharging, indexing, classification, information dissemination, exhibition, user education, selective dissemination of information, current awareness services, capacity building, information packaging and research guidance. Others are information dissemination services powered by institutional repository, Online Public Access Catalogue, electronic library and e-learning classrooms, databases and other library-based information technologies. We also encourage use of personalised carrels, as well as rooms for informative discussions and meetings. Our internet service is robust. In the long run, AAU Library resources and services apparently enhance academic programmes, boost development of cutting-edge research and breed knowledge equipped users.
