The Management of Ambrose Alli University,Ekpoma (AAUE), has strongly refuted recent publications alleging a breakdown of governance and administrative crisis within the institution, describing the reports as misleading, exaggerated, and lacking factual basis.
In a press statement issued by the University’s Principal Assistant Registrar/Head,Information, Protocol and Public Relations, Otunba Mike Aladenika, the Management faulted the widely circulated write-ups which claimed that the institution was on the verge of crisis due to alleged actions of the Vice-Chancellor.
According to the statement, such narratives were built on “distortions, falsehood, and deliberate misrepresentations” aimed at discrediting the leadership of the University.
The University clarified that the appointment of the current Vice-Chancellor followed due process in line with extant laws guiding university administration in Nigeria. It stressed that the process was transparent and conducted within the framework of statutory provisions, dismissing insinuations that the emergence of the Vice-Chancellor was irregular or controversial.
Highlighting achievements under the present administration, the statement noted that the University has recorded measurable progress in infrastructure development, accreditation of academic programmes, and reforms targeted at improving administrative efficiency.
Management maintained that these strides reflect a leadership committed to repositioning the institution for academic excellence and global relevance.
Reacting to claims of a rift between Management and the Governing Council or the Visitor, the University described such allegations as unfounded. It emphasized that the administration has consistently operated within the bounds of respect for constituted authority while ensuring that decisions are guided by the best interests of the institution.
The statement further acknowledged the existence of institutional challenges but noted that such issues predate the current administration. It added that the Vice-Chancellor’s leadership has been marked by deliberate efforts to address these challenges through transparent and sustainable reforms, despite resistance from certain vested interests.
Management also cautioned against attempts to personalize institutional issues, warning that such narratives are counterproductive and undermine genuine efforts to move the University forward. It reaffirmed the Vice-Chancellor’s commitment to collaborative engagement with stakeholders, including staff, students, alumni, and government.
While urging the media and the public to verify information through official channels, the University called for responsible journalism and constructive engagement in matters affecting the institution. It reiterated its openness to dialogue and its commitment to maintaining integrity and professionalism in its operations.
The statement concluded by reassuring stakeholders that Ambrose Alli University remains a stable and forward-looking institution, dedicated to its core mandate of teaching, research, and community service, and committed to sustaining peace, progress, and academic excellence.
