Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, has commenced construction work on a multipurpose car parking lot for students, marking a significant step in implementing the Governing Council’s approved security architecture.
Under the leadership of Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, the management team is driving this initiative to enhance the university’s security infrastructure.
The university’s decision to build a student parking lot follows a series of security concerns, including a gruesome murder and suspected activities of non-students driving into the campus.
In response, the management, led by Prof. Sunday Olowo Samuel, barred students’ driven vehicles from entering the campus, leading to traffic congestion and irregular parking at the gate which made the Governing Council to approve the construction of a student parking lot at the right-hand wing of the gate towards Iruekpen.
According to Otunba Mike Aladenika, Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Information, Public Relations, and Protocol, “the parking lot is designed to allow students to drive in from the express road,
Park in a well-laid-out format,
Exit through a pedestrian gate into the campus, Access shuttle services or commercial vehicles to their departments and faculties.
The University is experiencing significant progress, according to Otunba Mike Aladenika, while
Speaking at an executive media chat in Benin City, highlighting several key developments which include but not limited to the fact that the council has made notable strides in stabilizing the institution since its appointment.
“The council’s committee, on appointments, has met to consider applications for the positions of University Registrar and substantive Vice-Chancellor, with reports expected to be presented to the general assembly for approval next week.
Otunba Mike Aladenika further said that “on September 24, 2025, the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria will induct our
89 medical graduates, a testament to the university’s growth and the state government’s commitment to its development.
The state government, through the Ministry of Education, has also facilitated the clearance of over 1,000 students with JAMB regularization issues, enabling them to participate in the NYSC program.
Otunba Aladenika emphasized that Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma is moving forward and poised to regain its lost glory, contrary to predictions of its decline. “The good news is that AAU is currently making progress and expected to rise to its former glory,” he said.
