PHILOSOPHY

The philosophy of psychology is to produce a flow of gradate in Psychology with an enthusiasm to make their contribution to Nigeria, Africa and world in General.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Develop and improve students understanding of social problem through the efficient use of modern social research techniques.
  2. Develop the student’s potentials for critical observation, understand analysis and synthesis of data on social – psychological problems with the aid of proper research designs that are evoid of bias.
  3. Provide appropriate environment that will lead to better interpersonal and interpersonal understanding with a view to promoting the spirit self-reliance and creativity.
  4. Create an atmosphere for desirable behavioural changes which would help them develop values that are in consonance with the national objective such as had work, probity commitment, patriotism and discipline.

ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS 

Direct Entry Requirements
a)  In addition to UME admission requirements, candidates for Direct Entry Admission shall possess two General Certificate of Education, Advanced Level passes in two Social Science subjects or its equivalents, provided that such passes are not counted at both levels of the examination.

OR

b)  A diploma Certificate of any recognized University or Tertiary Institution in Social Works, public Administration, Mass Communication, International Studies, Law, Statistics and Criminology with at least a Merit pass or its equivalent.

UME Entry Requirements
a)  Five credit passes at the Senior Secondary School Certificate of Education (or their equivalents) two of which must be social science subjects, of which one shall be English Language. The five credits must have been obtained at not more than two sittings.

In addition, candidates must have acceptable passes in the following UME Subjects; English Language, Biology, Agricultural Science, Economics or Commerce and Government.
