The President of African Bar Association (AFBA) Barrister Hannibal Uwaifo and a Team of delegates of the AFBA visited Ambrose Alli University on Thursday, 5th August, 2021.
The Team paid a courtesy visit on the Acting Vice-Chancellor, Professor Osarhieme Benson Osadolor after which they went on an Inspection Tour of the Faculty of Law.
In his address to the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, the President of the AFBA pledged the support of its members to the progress and development of the University, noting that they are primary stakeholders being that the University is involved in the training of Lawyers.
The AFBA congratulated the Ag. Vice-Chancellor on his appointment. They said they have been following up on all the issues preclude to his appointment and applaud the Executive Governor on his choice of Professor O.B. Osadolor, given his antecedents.
They requested the Ag. Vice-Chancellor to give the Faculty of Law all the support it needs in order to scale the hurdles of the forthcoming accreditation visit by the National Universities Commission(NUC), and to retain full accreditation.
Barrister Hannibal Uwaifo congratulated the Ag. Vice-Chancellor for the First Class level achieved by the graduands of AAU at the recent examination at the Council for legal Education i.e. Nigerian Law School. He however requested the University to do more, to increase the number of AAU graduands to achieve 1st class at the Law school.
In his response the Ag. Vice-Chancellor, Professor Osarhieme Benson Osadolor welcomed all the members of the African Bar Association and thanked them for their past and future support of the Law Faculty. He said that plans were under way to establish the Faculty of Law, AAU as a Centre of Excellence. This will re-establish AAU in all its past glory and necessitate the revitalization of all the attributes of the Faculty that made it the best in Africa.
The Acting Vice-Chancellor promised to do all that is necessary to secure full accreditation for the Faculty of Law in the forthcoming accreditation visit by the NUC.
He expressed optimism that the synergy of AAU with the AFBA would be mutually beneficial.
