AMBROSE ALLI UNIVERSITY UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF PROF OSARHIEME BENSON OSADOLOR, EMERGES AS THE BEST KARATE TEAM IN EDO STATE, NIGERIA

The Ambrose Alli University Karate Team has emerged victorious as Overall Best in the just concluded Edo State Karate Competition held on 5th June 2021.

The Prestigious Citadel of learning, Ambrose Alli University, situated in Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State and under the leadership of Prof Benson Osadolor has again proven its supremacy in the Sports sector in Edo State.

Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, was declared as the Best in the whole of Edo State, having emerged the overall winner of the 4th Edition of the Edo State Karate Competition which took place on 4th June to 5th June 2021 at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium in Benin City, Edo State Capital.

The Competition, which had 13 different Clubs in Edo State struggle for who will lead in the Karate sector of the State, was taken over by the popular Ambrose Alli University, defeating all the 13 Clubs to emerge victorious in the big Competition. Among the 13 Clubs which slugged it out at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium include: University of Benin (UNIBEN), Benson Idahosa University (BIU), Federal Polytechnic, Auchi (Auchi Poly), Edo State Sports Commission, Ambrose Alli University (AAU), University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH) and seven other Clubs in Edo State.

The Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma, under the leadership of the Ag. Vice Chancellor, Prof Benson Osadolor, won 6 Gold Medals, 4 Silver and 9 Bronze Medals to defeat the 12 Clubs and emerged victorious in the Karate Competition which eventually placed the name of the school higher than every other schools in the State in terms of Karate.

The Ag. Vice Chancellor in his congratulatory message to the Team led, by the Coach, Mr Solomon Ighodaro, said, “I am indeed proud of the Karate Team in particular and Ambrose Alli University in general for this great feat. This is of course just the beginning, we will go out there again and again to prove that AAU leads, while others follow”.

  2. Oriabure Timothy- Biochemistry .300 level (69kg) Kata-Gold, Kumite- Bronze
  3. Innocent Ahmed A. Abdulamin- Mech Engr 300level (84kg) Kumite- Gold, Kata- Silver
  4. David Ogere- Med. Lab. Science 200 level (60kg) Kumite- Gold
  5. Larry Harrison Physics 200level (67kg) Kumite- Gold
  6. Femi Adebayo Pub. Admin 200 level (84kg) Kumite- Gold
  7. Williams Ndubuisi Medicine 200 level (75kg) Kumite- Bronze
  8. Godsent Oyarekhu Medicine 200 level (60kg) silver and Kata 1st Bronze
  9. Ibrahim Muhammed Usman Med Laboratory Science 300 level (60kg) Kumite- 1st Bronze
  10. Micheal Asiwaje, Law 200 Level (75Kg) – Kumite – Silver.
