The Management of Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma, paid a condolence visit to HRH Barr. Anthony Ehizojie Abumere II, the Onojie of Ekpoma Kingdom, over the death of his dear mother. Speaking during the visit, the Acting Vice Chancellor, Prof. A. S. Adagbonyin, on behalf of the SIT, Senate, Staff and students of the University, remarked that the death of anyone is a painful loss even when it is a necessary end that must come. He stated that it was a day of sadness for the University, a reason the Management of the University came to commiserate with His Royal Highness. He stressed that the visit to the Onojie became expedient as the University is within His Royal Highness’s domain and the healthy relationship between the Palace and the University which had been built over the years must be consolidated.
Speaking further, the AVC added that, in spite of the pain created by the loss, the death of the Queen Mother also called for celebration because she left behind great legacies of which His Royal Highness was one. He admonished the Onojie to take solace in the fact that his mother lived a fulfilled life worthy of emulation. He promised the Onojie that the University Community would participate in the final burial rites to bid the Queen Mother farewell.
In his response, HRH Barr. A.E.Abumere II, thanked the University Management for finding time out of their busy schedule to visit him in his moment of grief.
