PROFILE OF MRS. MARGARET ONOBHA MOMODU- ACTING UNIVERSITY LIBRARIAN

Mrs. Margaret Onobha Momodu was born into the Iyare family Emaudo, Ekpoma, Esan West Local Government Area of Edo State on 3rd December, 1956.

She attended Emaudo Primary School, Emaudo Ekpoma from 1961 to 1966 and Adesola High School, Ibadan from 1968 to 1973.
In her quest for University education, she proceeded to Forth-Valley State University, Ft-Valley Georgia, U.S.A. from 1976 to 1977 and Western Kentucky University Bowling-Green, KY U.S.A.; from May 5th 1979 to May 31st 1983, where she graduated in flying colours with a B.Sc. in Public Health (May 5, 1983).

Mrs. Margaret Onobha Momodu did her N.Y.S.C., at Bendel State University, Health Centre, Ujeolen, Ekpoma (12th January, 1984 to 11th January, 1985).

She proceeded to University of Ibadan, Ibadan, for her Masters Degree in Library, Archival and Information Studies in 1989 and graduated in the year 1992. After her Masters Degree, she got her first employment as a Library Assistant in the then Bendel State University (Now Ambrose Alli University), Ekpoma in 1987 and has progressed to the zenith of her career in the Library. She is also an adjunct lecturer, Institute of Education, Ambrose Alli University Ekpoma. (2005 till date).

She has more than 22 academic publications in learned International, National and Local journals, in addition to chapters in books to her credit. Also, she is involved in three(3) on-going researches.

She has worked in almost all sections of the Library including positions at the Main Library, Law Library, Medical Library, and as Head, Emaudo Annex and Agric Library.

She is an active members of several Learned Societies and Associations including the Nigeria Library Association (NLA), American Public Health Association (APHA), National Association of Women in Academic (NAWACS) etc.

She has attended many conferences, workshops and seminars which include intensive training on Administering the e-library system.

She was appointed to the position of Acting University Librarian on the 1st June, 2021.

She is happily married into the Royal family of Shaka Momodu of Irrua and the marriage is blessed with children and grandchildren.
